Situated on the western border of Tanzania and the Congo, this park spans 35 km² of protected land along the hills of the eastern shore of Lake Tanganyika. Nearby, Mahale Mountains National Park lies to the south of the city of Kigoma. Notably, it is the sole location where chimpanzees and lions coexist in their natural habitat.
